Premier Foods Foodservice Wed, 04 Jun 2014 10:29:18 +0000 en-US hourly 1 LACA – The Main Event: Birthday Bash Bonanza Wed, 04 Jun 2014 10:27:49 +0000 We’re getting ready to celebrate at Premier Foods as this year’s LACA ‘The Main Event’ fast approaches and we gear up to a big announcement. Visitors will be invited to join us to celebrate the anniversary of two of our best loved brands, as Homepride’s iconic Fred turns 50 and McDougalls celebrates 150 years of success.

In honour of our most iconic brand mascot, we will be transforming The Henley Suite into ‘Fred’s Kitchen’, where visitors can expect a birthday bash like no other. Fred will be giving out his iconic salt and pepper shakers to lucky visitors along with other great prizes, which can be won by participating in fun games and competitions – we’ll give you a clue… make sure you bring your camera phones! Inside, delegates will be served Fred’s favourites with a fresh twist, such as pulled pork with BBQ sauce, curry cones and roast vegetable Bruschetta.

At Premier Foods’ main stand (L7/L8) ‘The Innovation Kitchen’ will host our top culinary advisors, who will be unveiling new initiatives and innovative recipes for the education sector. Particularly in light of the implementation of the Universal Free School Meals in September, we will be showcasing how our portfolio of some of Britain’s best loved brands can be used to create a huge variety of school compliant dishes. Products from our Homepride and McDougalls brands will be used to create a range of sweet and savoury dishes such as, lamb tikka wraps, pasta pots with delicious homemade bread and lime drizzle cake.

Following the success of last year’s event we will be delivering on the expectation of excitement and practical advice that visitors have come to expect from Premier Foods. Both McDougalls and Homepride are staples in many school kitchens and we look forward to celebrating the brands’ successes with delegates.

Offer Dads an Alfresco Alternative this Father’s Day Fri, 30 May 2014 12:42:17 +0000 Father’s Day is fast approaching, falling on Sunday 15th June, and is the perfect occasion for outlets to promote alfresco dining as the warmer weather sets in.

As one of the busiest times of year for pubs and restaurants, it is important that chefs plan ahead to really make the most of this occasion. Launching a new menu that offers an alternative dining experience is a great way to attract new customers and impress existing ones. Premier Foods has an array of products across its consumer brands such as Homepride, Sharwood’s and Bisto, which will aid chefs in delivering menu innovation using flavours diners are familiar with.

Sharwood’s has a vast range of cooking sauces, pastes and accompaniments that will help outlets create exciting dishes, perfect for any alfresco menu. Sharwood’s Masala and Korma pastes can be used as a marinade to be added to a range of different meat and fish. Smothering a leg of lamb in Masala paste, for example, before slow cooking on a barbecue will produce a rich and aromatic flavour. Or, mixing Sharwood’s Korma paste with Greek yoghurt before coating fish will create a light and alternative curry dish. Use menu boards and table talkers to advertise your offering, as well as plenty of signage outside to reach the maximum number of people.

Our top alfresco inspired recipes…

BBQ Chicken

For a rich and tangy flavour, marinate diced chicken in Homepride BBQ sauce for two – 12 hours. This can then be used as part of main course, salad, in a tortilla wrap or on skewers. Marinating the chicken in advance will allow you to create a range of different dishes from a limited amount of ingredients, saving valuable time in the kitchen.

Honey & Ginger Chicken Skewers

Marinate diced chicken breasts in Sharwood’s Honey & Ginger Sauce, before skewering them and throwing them on the grill to create the barbecue flavours of summer. Serve on their own or on a bed of Sharwood’s noodles.

 Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings

Offering bar snacks and sharing platters is a great idea for busy occasions such as Father’s Day. These Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings can be prepared in 30 minutes and will add a different eating style to your menu.

Nutrition and Hydration Week is a collaborative campaign run by the Hospital Caterers Association (HCA), National Association of Care Catering (NACC) and Patient Safety First. 2014 marks the third annual Nutrition and Hydration Week, which has grown year on year due to the incredible amount of support within the industry. Around three million people are at risk of malnutrition in the UK and over 25 million in the G8 countries, therefore, it is vital we engage opportunities like this to highlight the risks and promote the good practices that can help prevent malnutrition and dehydration.
